FleytMuzik
Greenbaum
performs with violin, cymbalom and bass to bring the flute back to life in
the traditional small klezmer ensemble. The original sounds of the wood flute
were heard throughout Eastern Europe in the mid-nineteenth century until “louder”
instruments such as clarinet and trumpet “edged” this beautiful
sound out of the shtetl bands. Seth Rogovoy (author, "The Essential Klezmer:
A Music Lover's Guide to Jewish Roots and Soul Music") stated it best:
"I can't think of a stronger case being made for the flute as an essential
klezmer instrument (besides the historical fact that Old World kapelyes often
included flutes) than Adrianne Greenbaum's spirited playing...” Repertoire
is culled from Beregovsky, Kostokowsky, plus Greenbaum's own tunes composed
in traditional dance forms.
“FleytMuzik” is a new traditional klezmer ensemble that moves the soul, delights the spirit, and amazes the listener with technical prowess and soulful musicianship unmatched by most klezmer ensembles performing today.
